Well I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and that Santa brought all you wanted. I had a lovely day surrounded by family. Perfect.

I did also get crafty before the big day, I bought a kit and made my own little decorations. They’re not perfect by any means, but I like them.

Santa brought me some yarny goodness too! I got Franklin Habit‘s It Itches, an hilarious book of knitting cartoons & funny stories, Alice Starmore’s Charts for Colour Knitting and this:

It’s yarn. That’s made from sugar cane. Ooh. I wonder will I knit with it, or eat it, or knit with it and then eat it. It feels very like bamboo, I can’t wait to try it out! Thanks Santa!

Yesterday we had a flake out movie day to recover from the madness that was the day before. I have nothing on the needles that isn’t socks and I felt like some instant gratification.

Enter giant needles and some Irish yarn:

Basically all I did was cast on 20 stitches on 10mm needles, and knit every row until the skein was all gone. It’s Cushendale Mills Mohair Boucle, a mohair/wool blend that I bought when I visited the mills a while back. It’s surprisingly non-itchy for mohair. It’s enormous, it must be over 6 feet long! Lovely and long to bundle up in on cold days.

How are you enjoying your Christmas?

Good knitting!
